Why Advocacy Matters

Pension advocacy protects the benefits educators have earned and the retirement security they depend on.

For CTPF members, retirees, and beneficiaries, a pension is deferred compensation earned through years of public service. It is also a foundation for dignity and stability in retirement.

PAG helps members understand the policies, funding decisions, legislation, and governance issues that may affect the long-term strength of the pension system. Through education, public participation, and outreach, PAG works to promote transparency, strengthen oversight, and help members engage more confidently in decisions that affect their future.

Know Your Protections

Illinois public pension protections are an important part of understanding why pension advocacy matters. For CPS educators and CTPF members, this constitutional language is a key starting point.
